Manor Park - Faces of Ramadan

Out and about this morning and I decided to speak to people who are currently observing the Holy Month of Ramadan whilst having to come in and do a days work.

The first photo is Mr Islam who works in the UK Coffee House on Romford Road E12 - preparing and serving food all day whilst having to wait for Iftar.

Ali, in the second picture, works in a Halal butchers. He told me that working around food helps remind him what Ramadan is all about.

Another picture that stays with me is the man working in the ticket office at Manor Park station, quietly reading his Koran between serving customers.

Lastly (I wouldn't dare forget) Manor Park's very own PC Ayesha Mohammad - reporting for duty whilst fasting and still managing to keep us all in line.

As we head into the last ten days of the Holy Month, Manor Park SNT would like to express our respect to our Muslim residents, whose faith enables them to observe something that those of us not raised in that tradition would undoubtedly struggle with.
